Red Folding Aluminium Wheelchair — 18-inch Seat, KY868LAJ-A-46

Red KY868LAJ-A-46 wheelchair with an 18-inch seat

A manual wheelchair with an aluminium frame and a padded red seat and backrest with dark edging. The image shows large rear wheels with push rims, small front castors, armrests, footrests and a leg support strap. Rear attendant handles have brake control levers. The frame and backrest can be folded after the user has left the chair for storage in a suitable space.

Fit and everyday use

The listed seat width is 18 inches (approximately 46 cm). The padded upholstery provides a seating surface, while the large rear wheels allow manual propulsion for users able to operate them, or movement with an attendant. Check doorway and passage widths and the suitability of the seat height and foot supports before selecting the chair.

Use

1. Open and secure the frame and backrest and check that the seat and footrests are secure.
2. Inspect the wheels and brake mechanisms before use. Secure the chair when sitting down or standing up and move footplates clear of the transfer path.
3. After seating, place the feet on the supports and propel using the wheel rims or ask an attendant to move the chair from the rear handles.
4. Use an appropriate speed on level ground and seek assistance at thresholds and on slopes. Keep the chair secured during transfers.
5. Remove the user before folding, keep fingers clear of frame joints, then clean and dry the upholstery and wheels. Check moving parts regularly.
